Shocking: The head of the national team said something absurd about a star player for Leeds.

Ethan Ampadu, the former Chelsea midfielder, is set to link up with the Wales national team next week following his impressive performances for Leeds United in their push for promotion this season.

Welsh manager Rob Page believes that Ampadu is a potential future captain for the national team and has included

him in the 28-man squad for their Euro 2024 play-off semi-final against Finland later this month.

Ampadu has been a standout player for Leeds United this season, showcasing his versatility by excelling

both as a centre-back and in central midfield under manager Daniel Farke as the team aims for immediate promotion to the Premier League.

His impressive performance at the club level has garnered attention. Page remarked that Ampadu, currently captaining Leeds, showcases versatility,

exemplary attitude, and leadership qualities both on and off the field, making him a potential future captain. Ampadu, along with Dan James, Connor

Roberts, and Joe Rodon, are among the United players selected by Page for the squad. Ampadu and James are on the verge of achieving their 50th caps, while

Roberts and Rodon, currently on loan from Burnley and Tottenham, may also feature in the upcoming match against Finland. Page commended Ampadu and

James, highlighting their strong performances and camaraderie, particularly noting their effective partnership with Rodon at Leeds.

“They’re fantastic individuals. Considering what they’ve contributed to our team and country, Ethan, being still young, achieving his 50th cap would be remarkable. They rightfully deserve the praise they’ll receive for reaching this milestone. I’m grateful to be part of their journey when they reach this milestone.”

Page is confident that selecting Aaron Ramsey for Euro 2024 play-off duty is not a gamble. Despite not starting a match for six months due to a knee injury, Page believes it’s worth including him in the squad.

“It hasn’t been an ideal situation for Aaron due to his injuries and setbacks,” Page explained. “Injuries can be unpredictable and change rapidly. However, if there’s a chance he can contribute to the squad, I’m willing to include him.”
