The following factors have given West Ham a huge advantage in their pursuit of holding onto Tim Steidten this summer:

West Ham have been handed a massive boost in their efforts to keep hold of Tim Steidten this Summer.

While he has not had the opportunity to fully demonstrate his scouting abilities yet, there is no doubt that Tim Steidten has already implemented massive changes behind the scenes at West Ham. There have been massive changes to recruitment, transfer negotiations and analytics since he joined and he is still working towards progressing the club further.

Disappointingly though, it looked like West Ham were set to face an uphill battle to keep hold of the German as Liverpool were said to be interested in appointing him as their director of football. With Jurgen Klopp announcing his departure at the end of the season, Steidten’s former colleague Xabi Alonso has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds and this seemingly made things even more difficult for the Hammers.

Thankfully, the Irons can now be pretty confident that they will be able to keep hold of him as Liverpool have appointed Michael Edward’s to take charge of recruitment.

“The 44-year-old executive will assume a broad range of responsibilities including leading efforts to identify and recruit new leadership for Liverpool FC’s football operation, and supporting the growth of FSG in global football through additional investment and acquisition,” the official statement says.

Edward’s previously worked at the club not too long ago in a very similar role. Hopefully, this all but guarantees that they do not approach Steidten in the Summer and West Ham can finally experience his talent fully.
