Can Everton pass the Premier League’s new FFP rules? A financial expert makes a prediction.

Everton have every right to once again be furious with the Premier League.

After all, the news that broke earlier this week, suggesting they are planning to scrap the very PSR rules which have ravaged the Toffees this season, was never bound to be received well

Barely utilised over the last decade, they have shot to prominence seemingly only to set back Sean Dyche’s progress, and now they will be abolished in favour of a new ideology.

Fans have every right to be furious.

Kieran Maguire has sought to offer his verdict on the decision, which will see the Premier League align with UEFA’s FFP regulations and allow clubs to spend up to 85% of their revenue on player transfers.

What Kieran Maguire said about Everton

Speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside just last night, chatting with Giulia Bould, the football finance expert would an update and a prediction for how the Premier League’s proposed new financial rules would affect Everton.

Whilst he affirmed it would make no difference to their ongoing PSR saga, he attested that in the future it might actually benefit the Toffees, even if it marks a frustrating decision now.

Maguire would note: ‘I think they probably would this season, and the reason why I say that is that there has been a concerted effort at the club to get the high-earners off the wage bill. They’ve sold some players, the likes of Anthony Gordon and so on that contributed significant amounts.
