West Ham United transfer news as Ben Jacobs issues Emile Smith Rowe Arsenal exit stanceWest Ham-linked Emile Smith Rowe wants to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist explained that nothing is predetermined regarding a summer transfer for the Gunners attacker.

Smith Rowe has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, with his campaign disrupted by injury.

“I don’t think the writing’s on the wall because not much has changed since a lot of links in January and even last summer,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT. “We know that Aston Villa looked and some say that West Ham are monitoring the situation as well.

“But every time there’s been interest in Smith Rowe, even when he’s been out and not playing, it’s always been clear from the player camp that he wants to stay and fight for his place. Therefore, I don’t think anything is predetermined at this point in terms of a summer exit.”

Gunners attacker Smith Rowe has endured a very frustrating season so far, with the versatile ace not getting many opportunities to impress Mikel Arteta, largely due to injuries.

But when fit, the 23-year-old finds himself down the pecking order in North London due to the long list of talented players in the final third.

The likes of Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are flying high under Arteta, with Smith Rowe undoubtedly a squad player at this moment in time.

The lack of minutes may, therefore, force the player into a decision on his long-term future this summer, with a switch to nearby West Ham potentially a good option.

David Moyes would definitely hand Smith Rowe plenty of minutes, particularly if the Hammers are going to be competing in Europe next season, which looks likely.
