“What am I supposed to say to that?” is Ange Postecoglou’s sharp response to an interview on Sky when he was asked about

Ange Postecoglou during his post-match interviewAnge Postecoglou was in no mood for stupid questions following his Tottenham side’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

The result sees Spurs lose a significant chunk of momentum in the race for Champions League football, particularly after thrashing rivals Aston Villa 4-0 last weekend. That said, Postecoglou took umbrage with the notion that his side’s top four chances had been significantly dented by the defeat during his post-match interview.

Launching into a sarcastic tirade, the Australian told Sky Sports: “Um yeah look it’s all over. We’ll just go for sixth [place]. I mean you know, what am I supposed to say to that?

Spurs may not have to leapfrog Villa to qualify for next season’s Champions League given that the Premier League is currently on track to seal an extra qualification space, as per the latest coefficient rankings.

Doing so, however, is far from out of the question. The north London club are just two points behind Unai Emery’s side, who have been wobbling since the turn of the year.

Up next for Tottenham is a visit from Luton before a nightmare sequence of matches against West Ham (away), Newcastle (away), then title contenders Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool over the course of the following month.
