Full story as David Benavidez Attacks Canelo Alvarez for Demanding Fight for $150 Million

Super-middleweight bogeyman David Benavidez has responded to long-time target Canelo Alvarez, after the undisputed champion claimed it would take a mammoth amount of money for him to agree to fight his rival.

Benavidez has been in hot pursuit of Canelo and the undisputed throne for a number of years, publicly calling for the bout and defeating any other candidates for a Canelo clash, so much so that some fans have labelled the champion as a ‘duck’.

After being questioned on a potential Benavidez fight at the press conference for his upcoming showdown with fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia, Alvarez declared it would take a nine-figure fee for him to face the hard-hitting knockout artist, CBS Reports.

“[Benavidez] brings nothing to the table for me. He brings just 25 pounds more on that night. That’s it. It’s not him because he has nothing to offer me, anything. I’m the one.

“But if one promoter who I work with comes and offers me $150 million to $200 million, I’ll fight tomorrow. That’s the only reason I would fight with him because the only thing he brings to the table is 25 pounds.”

On Instagram, Benavidez hit back at those comments, maintaining his belief that he both deserves the fight and that Canelo is afraid to take it.

“@canelo if I have nothing to offer then why are you demanding you get 150-200 million to fight someone who isn’t worth anything? Hopefully after you make that 150 million you have enough left over to buy a pair of nuts.”

Regardless of the post, ‘The Mexican Monster’ finally appears to have moved on from his Canelo chase, instead agreeing a deal to fight Oleksandr Gvozdyk at light-heavyweight in the hopes of facing the winner of the Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev undisputed clash
