The appointment of this wonderful individual as Everton’s new Head of Academy Recruitment & Player Pathways has received high appreciation.

Everton ex-employee waxes lyrical as ‘positive’ behind-the-scenes hire made at Goodison ParkEverton have been praised for their appointment of James Vaughan as their new Head of Academy Recruitment & Player Pathways.

The praise comes from former Goodison Park scout Bryan King, with Vaughan beginning his new role with immediate effect [official Everton website, 12 March].

Academy graduate Vaughan, who made 60 appearances for the Toffees during his playing career, had previously worked as the club’s Loans Pathway Manager.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “If he’s got the qualifications, he’s certainly got the experience of playing in the league, and he knows what it’s like to be a young player at Everton.

“He probably knows the things that were right and wrong when he was young. He seems a very bright lad, he’s passed all the right courses, I think he could be quite a positive thing for the academy.

“I think it’s a good idea, he’s not there on his own, there are coaches and staff who will be an influence for him. Everton is his club, he feels confident about doing it, and Everton have been obviously confident about bringing him in, so good luck to him.”

Everton keen to work on academy with James Vaughan appointment

The Goodison Park club are clearly wanting to improve their academy with this appointment, with the Toffees perhaps not boasting the best youth setup.Everton stadium Goodison Park

There has been a lack of academy graduates bursting into the first team in recent times, with Vaughan surely keen to change that in the near future.

But perhaps Sean Dyche has been too busy dealing with the immediate issues in the senior setup to worry about what the future holds at Goodison Park.
