Full News: Glasner doesn’t need a “dazzling” winger, therefore Crystal Palace shouldn’t waste £20 million on him this summer.

Crystal Palace have been linked with several wide forwards in recent weeks, but one link just simply doesn’t make sense.

For Crystal Palace, the prospect of losing one, or both, of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise has clearly become a concern recently.

This is evident through the sheer amount of noise around Palace signing ‘replacements’ with this week alone seeing a handful of links emerge.

But replacing such talented players won’t be easy and given Oliver Glasner doesn’t exactly play wingers, but rather inside forwards, a specific player will be needed.

Now as fresh links to one option emerge, Palace needs to avoid making that the signing they go with.

Crystal Palace must avoid signing Jack Clarke

It is according to fresh links from HITC Football‘s transfer expert Graeme Bailey that Jack Clarke is once again on the cards for Palace this summer.

The report states that Clarke is an option for Palace this summer as he enjoys a fruitful campaign with Sunderland, equaling a 15-goal tally.

With a price tag expected to be around £20m, Clarke wouldn’t be a cheap arrival and quite honestly he doesn’t fit the bill of what Palace need from a Olise or Eze replacement.

While he is no doubt a talented player, Clarke is more of a traditional winger rather than the attacking midfield role Glasner has his ‘wingers’ playing, so he wouldn’t fit like a glove.

Clarke would be far from a terrible signing, but he just isn’t the ideal choice for this team, so Palace should steer well clear and instead move for the other name HITC has linked.

Jaden Philogene should instead be the number one target

Despite links to Matias Soule, it’d be a fair shout to say Palace are likely to do their shopping in the Championship with so much success there in the past.

Hull City’s Jaden Philogene therefore emerges as a pretty exciting option and he’d be the ideal profile for Glasner’s system.

A player who is more technical and has better footballing IQ, along with being capable of producing magical moments, like that Rabona goal he bagged against Rotherham last month.

Philogene is a much better choice than Clarke, and Palace need to make the right decision this summer to hand Glasner the best chance possible of being a success here.
