Details about what a Tottenham expert thinks about Alejo Veliz’s need to “start again” following Sevilla’s problems have surfaced.

Tottenham Expert: Alejo Veliz must 'start again' after Sevilla troubles emergeEx-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes Alejo Veliz needs to return to North London and “start again” after his difficulties in La Liga on loan with Sevilla.

Veliz joined Tottenham from Rosario Central last summer for a fee of £13million (via BBC Sport, 8 August).

He is yet to justify that price tag, playing just eight times in the Premier League and scoring one goal before being sent on loan to Spain with Sevilla.

Although it was a move which looked positive on paper, things have not worked out for the 20-year-old in Seville, with Diario De Sevilla (18 March) labelling the striker’s loan switch a “failure”.

With his struggles in mind, King believes that Veliz needs to get himself back to England as quickly as possible.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “Tottenham would be wise to bring him back to the club and send him on loan somewhere else where he is going to play.

“Veliz needs to go back to Tottenham and start again. A loan move in England would be more beneficial, it certainly didn’t do Harry Kane any harm during his early Spurs career.

“He still has a chance to rebuild but it doesn’t look as if he will be doing that with Sevilla.”

Tottenham forward Alejo Veliz is being wasted on loan with Sevilla

If there is any way for Spurs to end Veliz’s stay with Sevilla early, this is absolutely something they must do.

Loan moves are only beneficial if a player is getting regular minutes, otherwise they’re better off sitting on the bench with their parent club.

Veliz stands to gain nothing from staying in Spain and filling up a spot among Sevilla’s reserves, with the forward not even making the matchday squad for the club’s most recent outing.

Sevilla would hardly have any complaints if Spurs were to take Veliz off their hands, and although it might be a little late for him to secure a loan move elsewhere this season, just being around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be more beneficial for the youngster.
