Which Everton and its Premier League rivals have the easier relegation run-in?

Everton have the easiest run-in of their relegation rivals. Well, on paper at least.

Sean Dyche’s side’s remaining opponents have an average of 34.2 points. The Blues face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday before making the trip to take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

But while those assignments appear difficult, Everton supporters may look at what seems to be a favourable fixture list and still feel confident their side can beat the drop.

Fellow strugglers Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Brentford must all travel to Goodison Park. The Blues have already defeated that trio in the reverse fixtures this season. Sheffield United, who seem destined for relegation, must also visit Merseyside.

Everton’s toughest remaining fixtures appear to be the derby at home to Liverpool on April 24th and the trip to Arsenal on the final day of the campaign.

Forest and Brentford’s upcoming opponents sport an average of 35.4 points, 1.2 points more than the Blues’. Forest, who like Everton, are awaiting a points deduction outcome, host Crystal Palace on Saturday. And like Everton, they then also face two top-six sides, Tottenham Hotspur away on April 7 and Manchester City at home on April 28.

Brentford face Manchester United in west London in Saturday’s lack kick-off, but then just face one more top-six team, away to Aston Villa on April 6.

Burnley come next, their future opponents having an average of 35.8 points. That it is 1.6 more than Everton’s. The Clarets head to Chelsea on Saturday and then must also make their way to Manchester United and Tottenham.

Sheffield United’s final opponents boast a mean of 37 points. But, potentially crucially for Everton, it is Luton Town who have the toughest fixtures with their opponents averaging 43.4 points. The Hatters travel to North London twice in four days, facing Tottenham on Saturday and then Arsenal on Wednesday.

Luton, who will welcome Everton to Kenilworth Road on May 4, have also yet to go to Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.
