DETAIL NEWS: “I would make him look mediiocre,” boasts Devin Haney, promising to destroy Pitbull Cruz.

Devin Haney has responded to Isaac Cruz, who called him out for a fight.

Haney is preparing to take on Ryan Garcia on April 20 as he defends his WBC Junior Welterweight Belt. The Dream is a two-weight world champion, having beaten Regis Prograis in his last fight to pick up the WBC belt. Cruz is coming off an eighth-round TKO win over Rolando Romero to win the WBA Junior Welterweight Belt. That is Cruz’s first world title, as he dominated Romero. He was close to stopping Romero in rounds one and seven before he got the win. Now Pitbull is eying a unification fight. Haney reacted by saying he would make Cruz look like an ordinary fighter.

Haney On Cruz

“I like it when guys call me out because it makes for good fights to happen if he’s really serious. That’s a fight I’ll explore once I’m victorious vs. Ryan Garcia on April 20th. It wouldn’t be no different. I would make him look mediocre like I do to these guys. It’s not easy. I just make it look that way,” Haney said

Before Haney can think about that, he must get past Garcia. Haney is the big favorite coming into the fight. There are concerns that Garcia’s mental health is not a good place, making it a less competitive fight. Garcia has admitted to smoking weed and drinking alcohol. His social media activity has also suggested that he is not focused on the fight. While that may be the case, Bill Haney is already looking ahead to who his son could face next. Bill mentioned Cruz, stating that the Mexican could get the fight, provided Devin beats Garcia.

Pitbull [Cruz], you going to get it. As soon as we handle this business with Ryan Garcia, I want to see if you talking all that fat-mouthing. I ain’t going to disrespect Teofimo Lopez Sr. because I know you got a belt [WBO 140-lb title], and we got a belt. So, I wouldn’t put nobody in front of the Lopezs because that’s the ultimate grudge match. Pitbull Cruz, keep talking. You speeding up that list. If you really want to get it, Devin Haney is the man to go through,” Bill Haney stated

Devin has indicated his desire to stay at 140 and become undisputed. He became the youngest undisputed champion of the four-belt era when he won all the belts at 135. Now, at 140, he has many big fights available. He could face Cruz, Teofimo Lopez and Subriel Matias in huge unification fights. Haney will also earn a big purse when he faces Garcia, showing he is getting the balance right between generating a legacy and collecting big purses. However, one thing Garcia has shown is that he has great power. Since Haney has not stopped anyone since 2019, The Dream can expect Garcia to press the action.
