Jim White discusses yet another point deduction live on air while Simon Jordan delivers the latest Everton ruling.

Simon Jordan shares new Everton verdict as Jim White moots another point deduction live on airSimon Jordan has shared his reaction after Jim White reported that Everton may be set to be hit with yet another point deduction at Goodison Park.

The Toffees were handed a second penalty of the season on Monday (8 April) as they were deducted two points for breaches of the Premier League profit and sustainability rules in the 2022/23 season.

While that penalty leaves Sean Dyche’s side two points above the relegation zone, Jim White has confirmed that should the Toffees dodge the drop this term, they could be set to be hit with a third deduction for further breaches.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday (9 April, 10:15) he said: “Now Everton face another point deduction next season. If you are an Everton fan Simon, you are at the end of your tether, when does this end? The fans to a woman and a man are quite right to ask that.”

Jordan agreed saying: “They are because ultimately it’s not their mistakes that are finding them into the consequences for their team, but this is the price on the ticket for football club ownership, there’s jeopardy.

“People accept jeopardy in terms of refereeing decisions, managerial mistakes, players make mistakes. Now we’ve got a situation where owners are making mistakes and the ramifications of those are that football contains jeopardy.

“There’s a part of me and I don’t say this lightly that says bad ownership, good ownership, the challenges of making bad decisions, financial landscapes, they are just the precinct of business, life and sport and it happens on the field so why would it not happen off it?

“You’d expect better, Moshiri is at the centre of this, of course, there are other people around. The best thing to happen to Everton is because quite frankly when they get point deductions their team picks themselves up.”

Will Everton and Sean Dyche receive a third point deduction for FFP breaches?

As Jordan suggested, while it does seem ridiculous that the Premier League don’t have a clear set of rules for these FFP restrictions, the Toffees management have only themselves to blame for how they have run the club.

While that isn’t the fault of supporters and it does seem unfair that they are the ones punished rather than those at the top of the club, the likes of Farhad Moshiri and those around him signed up to these rules.

Everton Sean Dyche

Everton and Sean Dyche have faced challenges this season

Hopefully, Dyche’s side will have enough quality in their side to dodge the drop this season and book their place in the Premier League next term, but that won’t magically get rid of all of their problems off of the field.

However, with reports suggesting the entire profit and sustainability process could change again sooner rather than later, the Toffees may well be set to be handed a completely different punishment of similar charges next term.
