Details of the Leafs’ first-round matchup with the Panthers and Bruins

The playoff forest still has two potential predators lurking for the Maple Leafs as the NHL schedule winds down.

The Boston Bruins still could be Toronto’s first-round opponent, but it would be under very unusual circumstances.

The Bruins lost 2-0 in Washington on Monday, denying them the Atlantic Division title for now, keeping them just one point ahead of Florida.

The Maple Leafs (who are locked into third in the Atlantic) would have to win in regulation against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday to set up a playoff rematch with the Panthers.

Otherwise, the Panthers could get past the Bruins should the latter lose their final game at home against Ottawa on Tuesday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will face the Atlantic Division champion.
