“Huge” Premier League protest is being planned by Nottingham Forest supporters, according to O’Rourke.

Nottingham Forest fans have a “real opportunity” to take a stance against the Premier League during their clash with Everton on Sunday afternoon (21 April).

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke claimed both Forest and Toffees fans could unite in a “huge” protest against their points deduction verdicts.

The relegation-threatened pair will meet at Goodison Park – a clash which could have major ramifications on their Premier League statuses.

Both clubs have been hit with points deductions this season that have put their Premier League futures under major threat.

Will Nottingham Forest protest the Premier League v Everton?

However, the nature of the clubs’ sanctions has faced many critics, who have argued that rulings have been inconsistent or unfair.

Sean Dyche’s side have landed a combined eight-point loss after registering significant losses in the three-year periods to the 2021-22 season and the 2022-23 season.

Meanwhile, Forest were hit with a four-point deduction last month (19 March) after they breached their allowed £61million spending threshold for the three-year period to last season by £34.5million.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side quickly launched an appeal against the verdict, with the hearing set to commence on 22 April.

A judgement on the Reds’ appeal is expected to be heard by the end of the current season, but Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider (19 April) that they are unlikely to be successful.

Nottingham Forest sit 17th in the Premier League table after their 2-2 draw against Wolves at the City Ground on Saturday (13 April) before their weekend clash with the Toffees.
