I doubt if he’s able to elevate Spour to new heights. Not to sign the 24-year-old player, Tottenham is advised.

Tottenham told to walk away from a move for Ben JohnsonFormer Tottenham shot-stopper Paul Robinson has shared his thoughts on the club’s pursuit of Ben Johnson.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to reinforce their defence ahead of next season. Ange Postecoglou feels his team lacks defensive depth, as a result, they have been on the lookout for players who can help their cause.

The North London club have been linked with West Ham United’s Ben Johnson. While the 24-year-old is versatile and can feature anywhere in defence, Robinson is not convinced with the idea. He feels Johnson will not be able to break into Spurs’ first team. With Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie fully fit, the versatile defender is unlikely to start.

Paul Robinson said toTottenham News: “I’m not so sure he takes Spurs to the next level where they want to get to, and a deal between Spurs and West Ham it may not go down too well with the fans. He’d have to hit the ground running to win a lot of the supporters over.

“I think he’d be a good addition to the squad, put it that way, but I don’t think he’d have an immediate impact on the starting XI.”Tottenham told to walk away from a move for Ben Johnson

Robinson feels the 24-year-old’s arrival at Spurs might not go down well with the fans and he will have to hit the ground running to win them over. More importantly, the former Tottenham goalkeeper believes Johnson will not help the club take the next step.

While he will surely improve their squad by adding depth to their defence, he won’t have an immediate impact at the club.

The Hammers defender will not add much value to Tottenham’s first XI but his arrival could provide Postecoglou with more options to work with. Johnson is available for free in the summer and Spurs might see this as a great opportunity to bolster their squad.
