Chelsea supporters are beginning to turn on Mauricio Pochettino following their 5-0 defeat to Arsenal.
A win at the Emirates would have moved the Blues on level points with Newcastle United in the race for European football. Many tipped Chelsea to overtake the Magpies after last month’s 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino’s men were unbeaten in eight Premier League games until their drubbing against Arsenal. That defeat has riled up Chelsea fans – with many now calling for the Argentine’s head.
Either of these two men can save Chelsea at this point,” one comment read on social media. “Swallow your goddamn pride and appoint one Boehly.”
Another fumed at Pochettino appearing disinterested with results as he nurtures a youthful side yet to gel together. The post read: “It’s clear this guy is not a winning coach. He is full of excuses. For God’s sake, why does he come out here and continue telling us about a ‘young team’?”.
An angry fan called upon the Stamford Bridge hierarchy to sack him “right now” – with last night’s hiding their worst-ever defeat to Arsenal. Newcastle have a chance to open up a six-point cushion over Chelsea with a win at Crystal Palace tonight.
“This is the worst defeat Chelsea has ever suffered in the hands of a small club like Arsenal,” the fan fumed. “Pochettino is a man of setting bad records. He needs to leave right now.”
