Ruben Amorim utilized West Ham United as a pawn in the Liverpool job

Sporting manager Ruben Amorim may have used West Ham as bait to pressure Liverpool to give him the job, according to Melissa Reddy.

The Sky Sports journalist claimed on 26 April that an intermediary suggested that the very public meeting in London with the Hammers was so that Amorim could show the Reds that he had other options too.

The Merseyside outfit made their decision and now look to hire Feyenoord manager Arne Slot.

The report reads: “There has also been scepticism around the reasons for the 39-year-old’s very public meeting with West Ham, with one intermediary suggesting Amorim was trying to pressure Liverpool by showing them he had other options.

“The club had already judged Slot as the better football fit before that point, as well as a superior communicator and connector.”

  • This tactic, suggested by a source close to the situation, may indicate that Amorim was more focused on securing the Liverpool job and used the London club as leverage. You
