To break this incredible milestone, Calvert-Lewin is the first Everton player in history.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin believes Everton have put to bed what had been a “difficult run” both personally and collectively but acknowledges the challenge now is to maintain more consistency in performances.

Everton’s No.9 further endeared himself to Evertonians on Wednesday night as his second-half headed goal helped the Blues to a memorable 2-0 win over title-chasing rivals Liverpool.

In doing so, Calvert-Lewin netted his third goal from his past four appearances, while Everton secured a third straight home victory – each with a clean sheet.

Reflecting on this recent positive spell, Calvert-Lewin told evertonfc.com: “That gives you the foundation to play from, when everyone is doing their jobs well.

“Moving together as a unit defensively, in particular. You can build from that, then when you get goals it makes it extremely hard for teams to get back into the game. Liverpool are a good side but they didn’t have the answers [on Wednesday night]. That’s what we are about and that is what Goodison is about.”

Everton return to action with a third home game in the space of six days on Saturday evening (kick-off 5.30pm) as they welcome Brentford to L4. For Calvert-Lewin, that game is a chance to keep building on the squad’s gathering momentum.

“We need to do it more consistently, everyone knows that,” said the forward ahead to the clash. “There have been some sub-par performances this season, we went on a difficult run, personally and collectively – but we have come through that.

“We have won the last three [at home] so it is onwards and upwards and we have to look forward, and be positive.”
