Everton is considering a move for Yankuba Minteh of Newcastle.

Everton FC is considering a summer transfer for Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh, according to the Daily Mail. Minteh, 19, joined Newcastle from Danish club OB for £6 million last summer before being loaned to Feyenoord this past season, where he’s blossomed into an intriguing young talent.

During his loan spell, Minteh has scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists across all competitions, including the Champions League. His performance helped Feyenoord finish second in the Eredivisie and win the KNVB Cup.

While Minteh was never considered a player Newcastle would be interested in keeping in tow for the 2023-24 season, the idea is to potentially bring him back from his loan spell and retain him for next season, even more, pending sales such as Miguel Almiron’s.

“I have been keeping a very close eye on him,” Howe said of Minteh in April 2024. “I think he has done really well and attacked the challenge of going alone, new league, new team-mates, and has played in the Champions League. He can be proud of his efforts.”

Minteh has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League in the past, though he remains uncertain if his future lies with Newcastle or another club depending on how the Magpies’ roster shakes this summer. With the strong performances of Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon and if Almiron stays put, Minteh might need to look elsewhere for regular first-team opportunities.

The Daily Mail report discussed a potential interest in the player shown by Everton. However, Everton’s financial challenges (the club suffered an eight-point deduction for breaching Premier League spending rules this season), may limit their spending capabilities this summer.
