EXCELLENT NEWS: The LA Lakers have completed all the required paperwork to bring on a former NBA coach to their staff.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick is hard at work putting together his staff and is looking to fill it with experienced veterans who can help the Lakers go far in 2024-25 and beyond.

According to Brad Turner, the team has an interest in talking to former NBA coach Alvin Gentry about being an assistant for Redick.

Gentry coached a number of teams during his many years in the NBA, including the New Orleans Pelicans, where he worked with a young Anthony Davis.

This is the sort of hire that would make Lakers fans very happy.

Although many of them have hope and optimism in Redick, they also admit that he needs as much help as he can get.

They want to see his coaching staff be filled with people who have been around the NBA for a long time.

Redick doesn’t have any head coaching experience but that doesn’t mean his staff has to be inexperienced too.

Gentry was an assistant coach for several teams and was the head coach for the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Pelicans, and Sacramento Kings.

He has an overall win-lose record of 534-636.

Not only did he work well with Davis, but he knows the ins and outs of coaching, officiating, and how to manage a team.

All of that could help Redick out as he attempts to adjust to beinga head coach.
