The general manager of the Maple Leafs signed three players, including center Cedric Pare and defensemen Dakota Mermis and Philippe Myers, to one-year contracts for $775,000 US.

On the second day of NHL free agency, the Maple Leafs general manager signed three players to one-year deals at $775,000 US, defencemen Dakota Mermis and Philippe Myers, and centre Cedric Pare.

Mermis, a six-foot Illinois-born rearguard, has the most recent big-league experience of the trio, 74 games with Minnesota, Arizona and New Jersey, with eight points in 47 games this past year for the Wild. He was captain of the Iowa Wild of the AHL when on the farm.

Myers, 27, was once a Toronto Marlie on loan from Nashville. He made it into five games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last year in promotion from Syracuse where he had 23 points. In his 158 NHL games with Philadelphia, Nashville and Tampa, the 6-foot-6, 220-pounder from Moncton, N.B., has registered 36 points.

The 25-year-old Pare is on a two-way contract after 35 points in 61 games with the AHL Colorado Eagles last season. At 6-3, 205 pounds, the Levis, Que., native has yet to play in the NHL after being drafted in the sixth round in 2017 by Boston.

Also on Tuesday, the Maple Leafs confirmed the one-year deal for goaltender Matt Murray at $875,000.
