Amidst his outbursts of rage, Kenley Jansen makes some surprising remarks capable of provoking fans

The Boston Red Sox captured their first series win after the All-Star break in stunning fashion when Rafael Devers launched a double in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Tyler O’Neill and seal the 3-2 win at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Red Sox suffered an injury scare when Kenley Jansen looked uncomfortable during an eight-pitch at-bat with Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena.

After issuing a walk to Arozarena, Jansen received a visit to the mound from the team trainer, Red Sox manager Alex Cora and catcher Danny Jansen. He stayed in the game and got designated hitter Cal Raleigh to ground out to first base.

Cora didn’t have much of an update on the relief pitcher following the Red Sox win.

“He slipped on one of his pitches,” Cora told reporters. “He felt it in his lower back. We’ll see where we’re at Friday.”

Jansen owns a 3.05 ERA in 38 1/3 innings with 43 strikeouts and 20 saves this year for Boston.
