“The club’s ongoing dedication to the women’s team is outstanding.”

EXETER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB has increased its financial commitment to the ECFC Women’s squad and has at least two guaranteed matches at St James Park this season to show its support for women’s football.

This season, the club will provide £35,000 to the running of the women’s squad, a £10,000 increase over previous year’s commitment.

Two games have already been scheduled for St James Park, with the possibility of two more later in the season.

HEL Performance, Exeter City’s front-of-shirt sponsor, has also contributed to the women’s squad through club sponsorship.

“This donation shows that we take women’s football very seriously here at Exeter City,” said Nick Hawker, chair of the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust.

“We have a fantastic women’s team and development structure that obviously requires investment, so the club board is delighted to make this contribution.”

“The incredible success of the Lionesses in reaching the World Cup final has increased interest in the women’s game, which can only be good for football in general.”

The club also has a development squad, Exeter City Women Reserves, which competes in the National League Reserve South West Division.

The squads are handled by Exeter City Community Trust, the club’s partner organisation, which has built a female football pathway, allowing girls and young women opportunity to play from tiny tots all the way up to the women’s team.

Exeter City Community Trust also operates the Exeter Girls’ Development Centre and the Exeter and North Devon Emerging Talent Centres.

The Girls’ Development Centre, located at the club’s Cliff Hill Training Ground, includes roughly 100 girls aged nine to sixteen, with successful players progressing to Exeter College and, eventually, the Exeter City Women.

Abbie Britton, joint manager of Exeter City Women and charity development officer at Exeter City Community Trust, believes the club’s commitment will benefit the team significantly.

“The club’s ongoing dedication to the women’s team is outstanding.”

“We are an ambitious team with some very talented players, and this contribution will be critical in assisting us in achieving our promotion goals.”
