SAD NEWS : Detroit Lions big injury update………

The Lions received a disappointing update on David Montgomery’s injury despite the absence of Jahmyr Gibbs
The Detroit Lions backfield has suffered another blow. With Jahmyr Gibbs already sidelined with a hamstring injury, the team suffered another blow in Week 6 when running back David Montgomery came out of Tampa Bay early in the 20-6 win over the Buccaneers with a rib injury.
It sounds like Montgomery might miss some time. Via Dave Birkett:

“Another big blow for the Lions, even if nothing can slow them down yet:
It looks like Lions RB David Montgomery will miss some time due to the rib injury he suffered yesterday.

With Gibbs also likely out in Week 7, that leaves the Lions’ RB room severely depleted. Montgomery is having a respectable year after signing with Detroit in the offseason, averaging 4.1 yards per carry, including six touchdowns. He has just six races before leaving on Sunday.

Rib injuries usually take a while to heal, but this Lions team is as resilient as it is and continues to grow. Dan Campbell’s team has won four straight and is now 5-1 on the season.

The running game wasn’t great against Tampa Bay, but it didn’t need to be. Jared Goff threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns, while Amon-Ra St. Brown had 12 catches for a total of 124 yards to lead the offense. He single-handedly cooked the Bucs field.
If Montgomery and Gibbs are indeed absent next weekend, Craig Reynolds would be the best option for the Lions. The 27-year-old had 10 carries for 15 yards in Week 6 and is averaging 3.7 yards per carry in 2023.
