West Ham United: A new development in Manchester City’s summertime pursuit of a top superstar signing

Manchester City are admirers of Wolves winger Pedro Neto as well as West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper reported on its website on Sunday (10 March) that the Hammers midfielder is a potential target for the Premier League champions, should they lose Bernardo Silva at the end of the season.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side, and Liverpool, have been credited with an interest in Wolves star Neto as well who is likely to cost upwards of £60million having impressed immensely in his five seasons at Molineux.

Will Lucas Paqueta leave West Ham United in the summer transfer window amid Manchester City interest?

It is clear that Manchester City are keen to sign Paqueta this summer, but with news emerging that Guardiola’s side are already eyeing other players, West Ham may have boosted their chances of keeping the Brazilian at the London Stadium.

With profit and sustainability rules limiting the amount of money Premier League teams are able to spend in the transfer window, City may not be able to pay the fee required to bring both Neto and Paqueta to the Etihad in one summer.A lot could hinge on Silva’s future as well. If the Portuguese star leaves Manchester this summer, it won’t be for a small fee and City will be able to reinvest that money back into their squad without breaching any financial fair play rules.

Hopefully, Moyes and those in charge at the London Stadium will do all that they can to keep Paqueta beyond the end of the season as he is arguably the Hammers’ most important player at this moment in time.

It could be another tense summer transfer window for supporters, but West Ham showed last year that they are capable of rebuilding a midfield even when a star man like Declan Rice or Paqueta departs.
