Courageous: With just 624 minutes of involvement this season, David Moyes believes he is eager to go back into the West Ham starting lineup.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has made it very clear that he wants to start giving one player in particular more minutes.

David Moyes is really feeling the heat at West Ham right now, after his side’s poor run of form over the past two months.

The Hammers were lucky not to lose to Burnley yesterday, and we were saved by a highly unlikely source – Danny Ings.

The 31-year-old has really struggled since moving to the London Stadium – he admitted as much yesterday.

This season, Ings has been given just 624 minutes of action in all competitions by Moyes, and he has managed to score only one goal (Transfermarkt).

In fairness to the former Aston Villa forward, he hasn’t looked that bad when he’s played for us recently, especially during our 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in January.

And after his fine cameo display yesterday, he is surely in line to be given some proper chances now…

David Moyes says he wants to start playing West Ham man more

The Scot addressed the media after yesterday’s hugely frustrating 2-2 draw with Burnley at the London Stadium.

And Moyes offered high words of praise for Ings, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“It’s the sort of game when we’re on top and making chances, then Danny over his career has been brilliant at it. Unfortunately he’s not quite had his scoring boots on [this season], but today he did. He had one cut off for offside, he scores another, and then he hits the bar. Hopefully that will give him a lot of confidence and it gives us more confidence as well, because we want to play Danny. We want to play him for his goals and what he can do.”

In fairness to Ings, he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. It’s just that Moyes’s system doesn’t suit him at all, what with the physicality, pace and power needed from the centre-forward.
