The latest Leicester City transfer news as the new midfielder has struggled to make a big impact

The latest Leicester City transfer news as the midfielder has struggled to make a big impact since moving to the King Power Stadium back in 2021.

Leicester City are said to have set an asking price for midfielder Boubakary Soumare this summer, with a number of clubs linked with an interest in the Frenchman.

Soumare has been with City since joining from Lille in the summer of 2021, but has failed to make a big impact. The 24-year-old has been in and out of the team; he did however start seven of the eight games under interim boss Dean Smith at the end of last season.

Reports this week claim that Serie A clubs Napoli and Torino are among the clubs showing an interest in the player this summer, amid uncertainty over his future at the club. It added that Soumare is ‘studying all his possibilities’ surrounding his future.

Il Mattino now claims that the midfielder will be allowed to leave the club, if the deal is right for City this summer. It is said that City have set an asking price of ‘at least €20 million’ (£17.3m), but are open to the possibility of a season long loan with a permanent option in the deal.

The report adds that Napoli boss Rudi Garcia has personally ‘requested’ that his club look at Soumare this summer. Monaco are among the other clubs to be linked with an interest.

Any deal that will see him exit the club is not close, with the midfielder joining his teammates in City’s pre-season tour in Thailand and Singapore. His inclusion in the squad comes after he was left out for the friendlies against Northampton Town and OH Leuven.

Soumare could be back in the squad when City take on Tottenham in Thailand on Sunday morning (11am UK time kick off). They then travel to Singapore where they will take on Liverpool next weekend.
